strava w@nkers, warm weather training

Image
It had to happen, but today was as much about strava and training in the heat than hitting the tourist spots. But it felt pretty worthwhile achievement.  Dropped our bikes off first thing, even recording that kilometre trip on strava to start the w@nkery has we meant to go on.  Living off apples, grapes and cheese for 'in flat' snacks at the moment, so the day broadly starts quite healthy. In terms of moving onto the run I was slightly edgy knowing I don't run well in the heat and also not wanting to spoil the holiday vibe. I did require some double figure distance though to maintain some fairly intense marathon training that has consumed me to date this year, and whilst this week will be a little lower on the long runs, I can't fall off a cliff completely.  (or at all literally come to think of it) The route I chose was the first part of our cycle yesterday, not overly inspiring, and nothing new, passing the wreck and not wanting to be one was the first goal of th...

Be healthy, eat your greens

Not a huge amount to blog about today as simply took a look around the resort of Costa Teguise, got our bearings, and watched the Swans!  I will provide a little more meat on those bones, but won't be the full carnivore experience.  I'd come back tomorrow if you want something a little more substantive. The number of people seemed to increase on the route, passed a lovely looking cove and t...

Off to warmer climes

Very much goodbye rain, hello sun today, although it was sunset when we finally arrived in Lanzarote but I could still very much feel the sun had been active (as indeed I plan to be during our stay)  Set the tone for active before we even departed (to be fair the whole of the last month or two has been pretty active as I seek to bury the memories of Chicago) and negotiated the rain, mud and puddles to a parkrun near the Premier Inn we had booked to stay the night before our departure to Lanzarote. In getting the main drive out of the way last night, we were able to remedy the various things we had forgotten with a couple of near closing time visits to supermarkets in / around Crawley, and feel that we were indeed ready for lift off, get a bit of sleep and not have to rush around before departure. The parkrun so the various stats tell me is my 101st different one and starts with an I, these are important facts for the community.  The course , which is more of an importan...
