Adios Arrecife
Quick wrap up post. Dawn departure to the airport, far to early, booking a taxi a bit of a pain not been in a hotel, we could have walked down into the town, but no guarantees so paid a premium for a minibus, and then sat at the airport playing clash of clans and blogging until check in desk opened. Some of those carnival peeps turned up here too!
Thoughts now turn to next travel trips, the year is taking shape but the 'big one' yet to fully materialise. Our appetite whetted by the latino feel, Argentina now very much looking on the cards if the stars align. And a trip back to the Canaries at this time of the year very much in our sights for 2027 should we be fortunate enough to have the time and resource.
So trips abroad for the year (and this blog) already in play are Berlin (and surrounds), Alpine cycling, and a journey through Croatia and Bosnia. The former 2 should allow for a catch up with 2 of the most engaged readers of this blog, and bloggers / travellers / posters in their own right, so be great to share some experiences Haydn and Tom.
A bit of breakfast in the lounge at Arrecife airport, omlette, pastries, sandwiches, all the usual ... coffee but no booze .. same on the plane, ploughmans and a sprite. I did have the privilege of possibly for the first time sitting in seat 1A. Great fun watching all the chat in the cockpit, working with the groundstaff, and of course I was briefed as to a key role should there be an emergency landing. I was to all intents and purpose stand by pilot should the need arise.
Got some great photos of the canary islands as we left, including the island off lanzarote we never visited....la graciosa ... this time.. also one really cool basically volcano island in its own right ... need to look up what that might be ... always something new to explore ...

ReplyDeleteThe food looks good both at the airport and on the plane - though you don't look as thrilled about being in 1A as I imagined you might!
ReplyDeleteI think that island is Montaña Clara - in which case it is uninhabited by humans, though full of storm-petrels!!
Look forward to seeing you in Berlin and learning more about your plans for the Alps and Croatia/Bosnia, the latter very familiar to me, the former I've driven over once and flown over plenty of times 😄
ha ha, sombre expression, taking my self appointed role very seriously !!! Cheers Haydn, spot on with the island identification https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monta%C3%B1a_Clara
